The enhancements to the formula really show how this style of game is being evolved. This time it’s deckbuilding against the big evil with wizards. If you don’t want to take the plunge there is a demo. As far as I know, all the DLC (and there is a lot) has been converted and they are also adding steam workshop support. Kickstarted this one when it was an actual card game. The game that started the Handelabra empire. Pixelated Cardboards game of the year 2018. Solo or co-op roguelike card and dice game. card drafting and dice rolling game with the theme being birds! 8.11 BGG score. One of the best board game conversions available. (screenshots and such)Īll of these have The Strategy Informer seal of approval.Ĭlick here and don’t forget to follow our curator for our other picks right in your steam client! Let me know if you want longer and simpler or shorter and more appealing. I had a more graphicly pleasing article started but it was taking way to long to compose it so I went for something much simpler. I also tried to stay away from the super-popular games and try to give some lesser-known titles a bit of love if I did choose a big title it’s due to its discount being very good. I shot for around 30% or higher but there are a few exceptions. Also, I tried to pick the games with the larger discounts. Unless otherwise stated I have hands-on experience with each of the games and would recommend them based on my experience with them. On the 11th steam kicked off their annual sale for the Lunar New Year and we have some great deals on strategy and strategy-related games.īefore I get into it, I wanted to take a minute to explain my rationale for the picks. I mean who doesn’t its like Christmas multiple times a year. I guess the majority of people commenting here have has not even read the first post with the ideas, because the worst thing here is that people is comming with NEGATIVE arguments quoting problems that would not allow ww2 to be set as a TW game, EVEN IF I PROPOSED SOLUTIONS FOR ALL THESE QUESTIONS in the first post.I love Steam sales. No wonder why developers dont get the community that serious. I came here to talk about a total war like game about ww2 and got 95% of the posts like: "go play coh or mow". Its strange, seems like people cant simply get to reality to talk about the idea in this thread. It is a RTS game with NO campaign map or strategical map to move the troops or manage cities/facilities/resources. Relic RTS games tend to play out at a furious pace, but slowing down the pace and incorporating automation of the mundane could work very well. A sort of Surpeme Commander meets the close combat series. you just have to slow the pace down, and have fairly well done automated behavior. Otherwise the game becomes either unmanageable (or too simplistic to avoid that).IDK, I don't want a WW2 Total War, but I think we could easily play a grand scale WW2 game. If we want a larger scale, we either rely on AI (god please no) or in multiplayer, multi-role games with chains of command. I insist that I feel that, for every single player, Company of Heroes has WW2 perfectly covered. I think an hybrid fps-strategy game with a good layered chain of command (in which the top layers play strategy and the lower layers play fps, or everyone plays strategy but at different levels of "zoom" - so to speak) could be the way to go. I mean just think of the "Commander mode" of the Battlefield or Arma series, the squad system of games like Brothers in Arms or Arma. I honestly think that what I want from a "strategy" world war 2 game is or can already be covered by first person shooters. They are a very friendly community.įinally someone talking on the same leangue as me. If you have any questions about the game, ask on the Steam forums. And no I don't work for Graviteam, I'm just a fan of their work. I have included a few screenshots of tactical battles for you to see how realistic it is. The game is quite complex and heavy on realism. When you click on the battle icon you are taken to a 3D tactical map similar to Total War. It is similar to Total War in that you move your units on a 2D operational map and after you and the AI finish their moves a number of battle icons will appear indicating battles to be fought that turn (usually from 0-5). Each Campaign scenario is an actual operation from Russian front WW2 featuring the actual units that fought that operation. If your looking for a WW2 game that is similar to Total War, then GRAVITEAM TACTICS: OPERATION STAR is for you.
